1982 Vintage Seiko 5 7009-5350 "Chamber"

Introducing
Seiko 5 7009-5350 "Chamber"
Circa 1982

Here is a distant relative of the Dreadnaught, a watch I posted awhile back. The two share similar design aesthetics and color scheme, this one being the tamer and less daring of the two.

But I can imagine myself bringing both of them out, switching them from subdued day to raring night.

A dress watch is the personification of the gentleman's outside class, a representation of his cultured self. It has to be polite, clean, and honest without too much to distract. As such a clean dial is a necessary, no nonsense requirement - the lack of numerals demarcating the hours is forgivable, for a gentleman already knows what time it is without a watch.

But when he needs to know, the time will be there, gold hands against a matte black backdrop. The gold chapter ring gives a little hint should he require assistance, the day and the date contrasted clearly.

And that clean face must be hidden under his dress shirt, flat glass with flat bezel and plain steel bracelet, waiting for the moment he pushes back the sleeve for the big reveal.

A touch of class, made by a man's own choice, contained in the vessal on his wrist.
