Television is addictive. The same can also be said for the tv cases and dials. Seen here in the stark white, it's really hard to resist.

Let's start with the crystal this time. Keeping true to the television dial, the acrylic crystal for Stark has a lovely dome reminiscent of old retro tubes. Very nostalgic, and well worth looking at from the side. 

Moving inwards to the inner bezel, the 24 hour markings remind us of the many hours that the television keeps us entertained, the hours passing like minutes as our eyes stay glued to the programs,

A silver screen greets us as we look towards the middle of the dial. Polished white hour markers, silver hands, a bright white sweeping seconds set the stage for the silver dial, completing the look.

White dials look stylish. Period. And matched with straight horizontal lines, it makes for a very neat looking watch face. Zip is the kind of watch that gets eyeballs glancing your wrist's way.

The stark white dial is decorated very nicely with thick horizontal lines, creating a sort of wave effect that really gives the dial a distinct class that you don't expect from an economical watch like this. 

The Seiko 5 emblem and polished hour batons are applied onto the face, breaking the artistic symmetry. The polished day-date window follows suit.

The baton hands add to the sporty look, light lumibrite faint from the years of application. Topped off with a three-link oyster bracelet, Zip is a very nice companion for those who like a touch of white on a hot summer's day, or tucked under a sleeve for the corporate workhorse.

Oh I do like an intricate dial. I'd look at this guy with the loupe and explore all the raised ridges and microscopic curves that make up the face. I'd look at the hour markers and how polished they are, how they are attached to the dial. 

Don't even get me started on the roman numeral XII.

Machine cut solar guilloche patterns greets the owner at every glance, making it's endless rounds on the dial and complementing really well with the white base. 

Printed on the pattern are the minute tracks, once again adding utility to the artistic approached of the watch. Gold always goes well with white, and Seiko applied it conservatively to complete the dial on Guilloche. 

The hands are what you'd see on a lot of Seiko 5s, nice gold trimmed baton hands with a little touch of lumibrite for legibility.

While the three link bracelet gives it a little modern appeal, I'd much prefer a nice black leather strap befitting the dressy dial. 

That said, the dial of Guilloche catches light really well, and will definitely be something you'd catch yourself indulging in.

A stark white circle amidst a golden circle, beams of light shooting out from the center of the dial. This is the sight that beholds the owner of Royal.

The stepped case that holds it marvelled design adds to the mystique, a totally retro approach to one's day should you choose to wear it out.

Its dial in impeccable condition, Royal presents a subtle rectangular face from its center, radiating to the circular sunken inner dial, up to the rectangular outer dial of shimmering gold, and ending with the stepped stainless steel case. 

So much detail in one watch.

A ball is a grand affair - graceful movements of bodies moving in synchrony across a decorated floor. This is the imagery presented to me when I looked at this watch. 

A circular gold tent, enshrouding the private affair, with white and grey marbled floor greeting the dancers as they glide across. 

The fluted bezel does well to make the watch look bigger on your wrist, and having it in the color gold adds to the novelty of it all. 

The brushed checkered dial is a nice complement to the decorated bezel, and the gold markers and hands finish off the watch in all its splendor.

There's something about clean cut and simple designs that make you want to look twice. Not in succession, but maybe a few days later.

And when you do the gaze fixates. Somehow you find something worth sticking onto. The bad boys may look lavish and out there, ready for the world. 

But Charming, he's in it for the long run.

Classic white dial with polished hour indices and three hands make for a legible companion to the everyday. The spot of lumibrite make for a little color contrast, along with the grey / gold striped outer dial.

The crystal lies flat, parallel to the wrist, offering to slip under one's shirt sleeve for the office. The stepped steel case and duo-toned outer dial presents something for the weekend polo-t.

Charming is a versatile wristwatch for someone who doesn't need to own increasingly garish statement pieces to prove himself to the world.

As Game of Thrones draws to an end with the repeated stabbing of John Snow (sorry guys, I know this is the last place you'd hoped to find GoT spoilers), I pay tribute with a timepiece pure as his unflinching honour.

A banded dial of white and silver represents the three stages of the Lord Commander's life - naive castleboy, young warrior, seasoned soldier.

All pure and white, each blemish set against a stark vastness for all to see. 

And surrounding the white dial is a banded black chapter ring, around which his life revolves. From the moment his uncle took him north, John Snow has had the life of a Watchman branded in his destiny. 

And his entire story, encased in a solid stainless steel offering, hard and cold against the livery of his wearer's hands. For the watch, for the north, for winter is here.

1970s Vintage Mido NOS Commander "Sea" and "Air"

Mido NOS Commander "Sea" and "Air"

One has to guess why they named these very dressy wristwatches "Commander". 

Keeping along with theme, I've named them Sea and Air respective to the elements portrayed in their dials.

New old stock, with sticks still on, the Sea and Air come in a nice oversized cushion case, two-tiered dial depicting a vast emptiness in its center - kind of like what the sea and the air are like I guess.

Time telling would be an issue here, what with no visible hour markers besides the crosshair at 12, 3, 6, and 9'O.

What I get from these is a sense of emptiness, the plain dials the emphasis after the broad polished bracelet draws your attention. 

Get lost in time, your gaze upon its dial, hours and minutes lost.

Because Lone Ranger.

Bad jokes aside, this offering has a shine worthy of a new watch. The bright stainless steel case is complemented by a polished white dial with outstanding hour batons erected clearly on the dial.

The Rotating Rado logo sits at 12'O, with the two red seahorses embellished at 6'O.

Right off I notice the mandarin day wheel. So rare! I've actually never seen one before, so this one got into the collection quickly. In nice symmetry, the Rado logo and the date day-date window sit side-by-side. 

What a dial.

Topped off by a raised acrylic glass, fluted bezel and a jubilee bracelet, the Silver is indeed a runaway favourite for those who like class.
